Months after battle royale Ring of Elysium saw its duo mode locked, hopeful players still hold hope that their favorite mode will return.
The duo mode was locked for the first time back in February, and only for North American servers, due to lengthy queue times which made the experience less than optimal. It has remained unavailable ever since.
Ring of Elysium Duo Locked
Although it was meant as a <a href="temporary solution to the issue, Ring of Elysium's duo mode remains locked even today, as the battle royale loses players with each passing month.
Both new players and Ring of Elysium veterans have repeatedly asked for the return of duo mode. Both Steam and the game's subreddit host several threads in which users express their wish to see the mode unlocked once again.
For some, duos was the go-to mode since it allowed playing in a tight team with another friend. For others, it was a welcome option between solo and squad play. A change.org petition was also started around the time of the duo mode locked.
While the duo mode lock might have made matchmaking in Ring of Elysium take less time, the battle royale title has been steadily hemorrhaging players over the course of the past few months.
This makes it seem unlikely for duo mode to make its triumphant return any time soon. Doing so would likely only split the community further, which was the reason for it being locked in the first place. In February, Ring of Elysium averaged more than twice the number of players in the last month.
