Risk of Rain 2 has been extremely successful, following its surprise announcement out-of-the-blue: that much is quite obvious. That said, we haven't had concrete sales data to back this idea so far, and now we do. It's very impressive, all things considered!
Risk of Rain 2 sales have, according to Hopoo Games - the developers - passed the magical 1 million copies moved in a single month. This piece of data is even more impressive when put into context, comparing it with the original Risk of Rain.
According to Hopoo, it took the first Risk of Rain a fair bit of time to reach this substantial milestone: "To give you guys a little bit of context, it took us almost 5 years to hit that same number on Steam for Risk of Rain 1," they said. "We are excited to see how many of you are jumping into RoR 2. Thank you all so much - we feel very lucky."
Speaking about upcoming content - all of which will be entirely new to the universe of RoR, having not been part of the original game either - developers included a curious word search puzzle, which you can check out on the official Steam blog of the game. In short, players can expect a new playable character, a new biome, new items, and a whole lot more coming very, very soon in Risk of Rain 2's first major content update.
In the meantime, be sure to reference Game Watcher's various RoR 2 guides, such as the one on Lunar Coin farming, how to open the mysterious Timed Chest, and how to easily locate Teleporters.
