Risk of Rain Returns features a host of different playable survivors and, if you’ve kept an eye on online discussions or found one mysterious item during your runs, you’re likely wondering if Robomando is in the game.
Risk of Rain Returns’ Robomando counts among the roguelike’s (potentially many) secrets. While it may initially appear that the character is not in the game, unlocking him requires going through a couple of fairly complicated steps.
Risk of Rain Returns Robomando
Reddit user m0lmy shared the process through which they unlocked Robomando while offering proof that the survivor is, indeed, playable in Risk of Rain Returns.
The first two of the five steps must be completed on the game’s Drizzle difficulty, with the remaining three working on either Rainstorm or Monsoon difficulties.
Below, you’ll find a the list of steps required to unlock Robomando in Risk of Rain Returns, as explained in the Reddit thread linked above.
- In the Temple of Elders, head to either the far left or far right to find a clay pot. Break it to obtain the Strange Battery equipment piece. There may be one variant of the temple that does not spawn a pot, so you may need several attempts.
- Reach the final stage and find the dancing golems below the map. Behind them, you'll find an equipment chest into which you need to place the Strange Battery.
- Start a new run, go to stage 2, and find the chest with the battery.
- Reach stage 3, beat the teleporter, and use it at the 22-minute mark.
- A dead robot should then appear on stage 4. Place the Strange Battery inside the robot, fight it, and Robomando should unlock.
The addition of this secret survivor, who has an ability that allows him to activate a mechanical object for free, increases the number of playable survivors to sixteen.
