Shadow of the Tomb Raider is out now, and it's also excellent, and well worth picking up. It's a sizeable adventure for sure, but is it only single-player? Is there Shadow of the Tomb Raider co-op? Or Shadow of the Tomb Raider multiplayer modes?

We've played and explored the game, so we thought we'd answer those questions about co-op or multiplayer in Lara's latest game. Does the Shadow of the Tomb Raider The Forge DLC have any answers, and what is The Forge DLC release date? We've got all the details.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Co-op - Does the game have multiplayer?

While there's a lot to do in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and it's certainly a sizeable game packed full of features, the one thing it is completely missing is multiplayer. At the present time, there is no co-op or multiplayer of any kind in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. No, not even being able to compare leaderboards with your friends.

While there is no multiplayer in Shadow of the Tomb Raider right now, it will be getting co-op soon. November 13th in fact, which is when The Forge DLC will launch, kicking off around seven months of new DLC, with a new tomb every month.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the recent games, including Shadow, have been the Challenge Tombs - small, contained puzzle-rooms with traps and dangers that remind us of the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Square Enix has announced that the Shadow of the Tomb Raider Season Pass (which is included in the Croft Edition) will add 7 additional Challenge Tombs to the game. Excellent news, but they've also shockingly revealed that these new tombs will be playable in co-op!

There's a new video which highlights the additions in the DLC, including the co-op. One player takes on Lara and the other is "a friend" (we don't have a name yet). The new Tombs will have a co-op focus and may be similar to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and its sequel Temple of Osiris, the well-received co-op spin-offs from the main Tomb Raider series. Either way, we're excited to find out.

So to sum up - Shadow of the Tomb Raider does not have co-op or multiplayer right now - but it will get co-op as DLC in November.
