Having released back in 2015, Skyforge was one of those MMORPGs that might not have attained widespread public support and an overabundance of players like certain outliers do, but it did collect and retain a decent following due to the quality of the product.
To include a battle royale mode of play into one such game is basically a risk-free situation, because there's really not much to lose, while the developers could potentially get a significant boost to their playerbase. This is exactly what's been going on with Skyforge, which will be getting its own special Battle Royale variant later this month.
Now, you might be worried what the inclusion of battle royale in a fully-fledged, long-standing MMO means for the game's balance. Fret not, however, because developers promise that Skyforge Battle Royale will launch from the main menu and will remain completely separate from the base game.
Of course, Skyforge Battle Royale will have its own twist on the tried-and-true formula, where instead of finding loot (weapons, items, etc.) in chests sitting at random locations on the map, players will have to hunt down various monsters for the good stuff to drop.
There's been no concrete word on what sort of gameplay alterations we should expect for Skyforge Battle Royale, other than the fact that there will be less of a focus on auto-aim and similar MMO mechanics. The game mode is slated for launch on PC via Steam on 28th of August, completely free of charge.
