Monomi Park finally released Slime Rancher 2 into Early Access last week, and it seems the developer has avoided a sophomore slump.
Monomi Park CEO and co-founder Nick Popovich took to Twitter to announce that since its launch last week, Slime Rancher 2 has sold an impressive 300,000 copies, and has topped the Steam charts with 6,000 user reviews giving it a 95% positive score. It had been previously reported the game sold 100,000 copies in just six hours.
It’s a healthy start for the sequel to 2017’s Slime Rancher, which has sold five million copies in the past five years itself.
Popovich was also keen to point out Slime Rancher 2’s success came with zero crunch in development, and that staff were offered unlimited Personal Time Off (PTO) during that time. With development horror stories still creeping out of the woodwork on a regular basis, it’s heartening to see the opposite show just how needless crunch is.
If you’re looking for some Slime Rancher 2 Guides, Matthew Ralphson has put together a piece on collecting Radiant Ore, and we’ll have even more guides coming soon, so keep a lookout.
