Slime Rancher 2 hit early access with a splash, delighting fans of the original with all new content and smoother all-round gameplay.
On top of the new location, there are a lot of new slimes to be found on Rainbow Island, some much more challenging than others. Looking like a cross between a balloon and a raccoon, the uniquely mischievous Ringtail slime truly lives up to its pedigree.
Slime Rancher 2 Ringtail Slimes
Ringtail Slimes can be found in Starlight Strand, located on the southwest island. Once you’ve passed through the portal, head far to the south where you’ll find not only Ringtail Slimes, but also a Ringtail Gordo that unlocks a new area.

Ringtails can be fed on fruit, veg, and meat, but be warned… they will eat endlessly, even when full. This might sound like a great thing, but they won’t produce any extra Plorts, meaning you’ll be eaten out of house and home if you’re not careful.
The best way to manage this is to make use of auto-feeders and the Ringtail’s other unique trait. In direct sunlight, they turn to stone, meaning that as long as you don’t place a Solar Shield on their pen, they’ll only be active and eating for half of the day.
This stone-state also means that they can only be collected at night. However, when turned to stone they can be picked up and moved, just not added to your vac pack inventory.
