Publisher Games Operators and developer DreamStorm Studios today unveiled Star Exodus as their next real-time strategy game. The title puts you at the helm of a fleet housing the remaining population of a destroyed planet. As you venture across space, it’s up to you to ensure its survival.
Food and fuel keep your ships and crew going in Star Exodus, and you’ll have to collect them as you jump from sector to sector. Losing a ship can prove to be a significant setback, as all the resources on board go with it.
The decisions you make not only impact the story and ending you see upon reaching a playthrough’s conclusion, but also the crew’s morale.
Your journey through space won’t always be smooth, either, as alien spaceships will hunt you. You’ll have to weigh the cost of engaging them in battle and can opt to not do so. Preserving your crew can be more vital.
Should combat be inevitable, you can use the environment to your advantage. Nearby asteroids, for example, can provide the perfect terrain to set up ambushes.
You’ll spend a lot of time looking at your fleet in Star Exodus. Upgrades and modifications allow you to make it your own and cater to potential needs that might arise at different stages in your journey. Travel to the right sector and you might also find other ships willing to join you.
