In the recently released 1.1 Patch for Star Wars Galaxies Restoration, the developers have introduced Planetary Control mechanics, enabling players to participate substantially in the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebellion.
The introduction of the Planetary Control mechanics update now allows players to level up both Imperial and Rebellion ranks, unlocking formidable new abilities. The combat system has also undergone significant enhancements including stat boosts, survivability tools, and other changes. With the implementation of new UI features, “Restoration” aligns with contemporary MMOs in terms of combat computation.
An outlook on promising future content
Navigating through intricate ranking systems, players are encouraged to traverse the expanse of space and carve out their own narrative within the confines of The Galactic Civil War.
Here are some of the new features:
- Planetary control mechanics are in place for Senior Officers with a focus on Base Busting. Players can now assign themselves regions to defend and are demoted upon losing control of the area.
- Reworked combat system that gives you more control of your character with emphasis on locomotion and combat states. Damage has been tuned to slow some aspects of combat down and better reward strategy.
- GCW Officer Ranks are now activated which include high-end abilities such as Stasis Laser, Air Strike, and calling in reinforcements. Factional vendors at higher ranks now have exclusive armor & weapon skins.
- Across from the Bestine Museum, the Humanities Society Menagerie has opened. For an entrance fee, players can now bid on new high-end custom artwork.
- Over 100 other fixes and tweaks to base gameplay have been added.
- Certain professions have been renamed to remove gendered language:
Marksman is now known as Sharpshooter.
Rifleman is now known as Sniper.
Pikeman is now known as Lancer.
Swordsman is now known as Berserker.
Peering into the upcoming roadmap reveals the introduction of a new Jedi in the 1.2 update, who will be accompanied by force-sensitive abilities. Another intriguing feature slated for this update is ‘The Path.’ Drawing inspiration from the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, ‘The Path’ serves as a sanctuary where Jedi can evade capture. It provides a network for them to train, trade, convene, and find tranquility.
Support for improved graphics is in the pipeline, as the previously 32-bit system undergoes a revamp to transition into a 64-bit client. This upgrade will empower players to utilize additional memory and tap into the full potential of their CPU’s processing power.
The Restoration development team operates in an unofficial capacity; hence, “Star Wars Galaxy Restoration” will be free to play. Everything you require to embark on your adventure in this expansive galaxy can be located here.
The team aims to work in tandem with the fans, presenting new features to their project including a sprawling sandbox world, unique and personal stories with skill trees and crafting, a player-driven economy, fights in space, and a unique force system.
