Publisher and developer Solid Clouds today revealed Starborne: Frontiers as its newest game. Set in the same universe as the studio’s debut MMORTS and taking place 400 years after its events, it “will be a departure from Sovereign Space’s real-time empire-building format, instead challenging players in completely different ways as they voyage across the edge of civilized space.”
Starborne: Frontiers will take a deeper dive into the universe’s lore, getting players better acquainted with its multiple factions as they trek across the stars. These factions each have their own world views and goals. Some may end up allying with you while others will do whatever they can to ensure that you don’t get in their way.
“As their renown grows [players] will be able to build personal bases, discover the galaxy’s secrets, and even team up with their fellow commanders to take on its greatest dangers through both PvP and PvE elements,” the developer explains in an emailed press release.
As your journey continues, you’ll climb the ranks from humble ship captain all the way to commanding an empire, while building bases and growing your fleet.
There’s not much in the way of gameplay just yet, but you can check out Starborne: Frontiers’ teaser trailer below. The free-to-play game is headed to both PC and mobile devices. Its soft launch is currently slated for December 2021 with the full release expected at some point in May 2022.
