We’ll get to sample “both strategy and combat-oriented gameplay,” which includes constructing and reinforcing bases outside of intense battles against the Bugs.
Bases not only act as “a safe structure to respawn, regroup and rearm,” but are also protected from enemy spawns. According to the developer, players of any class and rank can construct them.
As far as Arachnids go, our stay on planet Valaka involves frequently having to deal with 5 unique types in the shape of Drones, Warriors, Gunners, Plasma Grenadiers, and Tiger Elites.
Teamwork is required to complete objectives, acquire resources, and make sure bases remain standing before making our way to the extraction point.
Starship Troopers: Exterminations is expected to stay in Steam Early Access “for approximately 1 year,” during which time the developer plans on using player feedback to influence which mechanics it builds upon.
The title is set to feature three classes – Assault, Support, and Defense – alongside a fully-fledged progression system that rewards new weapons, equipment, and perks for each of them.
