The 2.3 Wolfe update for Paradox Interactive’s sci-fi strategy game Stellaris is just one day away and, as is customary, the publisher has revealed its contents in a dev diary focused entirely on patch notes.
The 2.3 Wolfe update will add support for a number of features coming in the premium Stellaris: Ancient Relics Story Pack, which also drops tomorrow, as well as a host of free changes for all owners of the title.
Stellaris 2.3 Wolfe Update Patch Notes
In terms of Stellaris: Ancient Relics Story Pack features introduced in the 2.3 Wolfe update, owners of the story pack can delve into its brand new archaeology system, which sends them on multi-stage investigations of various alien sites. Succesfully completing them can uncover powerful relics, minor artifacts or bestow new traits upon your scientists. Planetary mausoleums called Relic Worlds will also be included, being literal treasure troves for the archaeologically-inclined, while the stories of two new Precursor civilizations await to be discovered.
As far as free 2.3.0 Wolfe update features go, parts of prior exisiting content, such as the Isolated Contingency Core or the Prethoryn Brood Queen, have been reworked into the Relics system. Sectors now allow players a greater amount of control over how they’re managed, while also coming with more powerful automation tools.
The patch notes also show that players can now choose manual designations for the planets in their empires, determining which resources they focus on. A series of Megastructure improvements also see habitats receiving different effects based on the type of celestial body they inhabit, while Ring Worlds receive highly efficient, specialized districts.
The 2.3 Wolfe update also introduces a plethora of AI and balance changes alongside many bugfixes. You can see them all in the full patch notes part of the latest Stellaris dev diary.
