Publisher Paradox Interactive has unveiled Stellaris: Overlord as the newest expansion for its long-running sci-fi grand strategy game.
Stellaris: Overlord focuses on “on exerting your will across the galaxy, the projection of power, and the expansion of civilization under your glorious banner,” and aims to flesh out diplomacy between empires that are not equal.
This sees the game’s vassalization mechanics going through “significant changes,” whose goal is to turn subjugation into “a more valuable and viable system” that has benefits for both sides.
Stellaris: Overlord will also introduce three Specialist Vassals alongside Overlord Holdings, both of which will be detailed in the future.
Five new origins are also on the way, including one for Hive Empires, while new Enclaves and a new megastructure are also planned.
Stellaris: Overlord gives players additional tools to craft their legacy as a benevolent ruler who spreads prosperity or a ruthless tyrant who’s out to exploit their vassals.
The expansion will launch alongside patch 3.4. You can watch its announcement trailer below, read its dedicated dev diary on the forums, and wishlist it on Steam.
