Publisher and developer Flow Fire Games today announced that Synthetik 2, the sequel to its popular rogue-lite shooter, Synthetik: Legion Rising, will enter Steam Early Access later this year. Developed using a different engine than the original, the sequel aims to provide a similar experience, also being described as an “unforgiving tactical shooter rogue-lite”, while introducing improvements that push the series forward.
Synthetik 2 will boast full 3D visuals, feature mod support, a new progression system that promises “near-infinite replay value”, as well as improved gunplay.
Players will have to master magazine eject and active reload mechanics alongside movement-based recoil in their efforts to take down the machine gods. Weapons will jam and overheat, adding another variable to its intense battles. Although it retains the top-down perspective of the original title, Synthetik 2 will also reward precision through the inclusion of headshots.
You’ll also get to use “powerful Technologies, take possession of powerful Faction Arsenals, [and] expand on new Classes” in both single player and online co-op. The latter supports up to 4 players and will have dedicated servers.
Synthetik 2’s Steam Early Access release date is slated for some point during Summer 2021. The full version won’t launch until 2022, the developer saying that it will take into account both the state of the game and fan feedback while trying to “not stretch things out too far.”
