SYNTHETIK is brutal. It's not just about the game's post-human architecture and the way that its anti-materiel rifles scatter the enemies' remains across entire levels. Rather, it's about the way it forces you to micro-manage your avatar and its equipment to the nth degree.
SYNTHETIK isn't senselessly brutal, though. It lulls players into a rhythm that you'd sooner expect to see in a milsim of some type than in a top-down shooter, and though it is difficult, it is also fair. SYNTHETIK's first major content expansion, titled Legion Rising, aims to expand upon all of this and more.
Set to launch next week, on 3rd of October, Legion Rising will take the base game's four unique character classes and offer specialisations for them, so that the game's knife-and-revolver-wielding Commando class will turn into a CQB-oriented Raider, or the firearms-focused Assault Gunner.
Though this is the only real teaser we've gotten so far, developers have promised for Legion Rising to "heavily upgrade the core of SYNTHETIK while also adding new content for the experienced players." This is likely to mean: more guns. And though there's a lot of guns already available, why stop at that?
SYNTHETIK: Legion Rising will be released at no additional cost for everyone who's already purchased the game, though the base price is set to rise to $19.99 on release. Developers will also offer a small Supporter Pack as well, which will include an alternate skin for one of the starting handguns, and a different visual effect for the evasive dash skill.
If you've not yet come across SYNTHETIK, and you're a fan of games that aren't afraid of kicking your ass left and right until you get a grip, be sure to check out the trailer down below.
