Real-time strategy game Tempest Rising blasts into the new year with a new multiplayer demo that’s available as part of Steam’s RTS Fest. Until February 3, we can get our first taste of the title’s PvP component.
In addition, co-publishers 3D Realms and Knights Peak have announced that pre-orders are also now live. Promising a modern take on genre classics from the 90s and 2000s, Tempest Rising comes in two different editions.
Tempest Rising New Steam RTS Fest Multiplayer Demo and Pre-Orders
The standard edition is priced at €39.99/£34.99 and includes the base game. The Deluxe Edition is more expensive, costing €49.99/£40.99, including the following extra goodies:
- One week of advanced access to the full game, including multiplayer and skirmish mode
- A digital artbook showcasing the art and lore of Tempest Rising
- The full digital game soundtrack, featuring 43 tracks from legendary Command & Conquer composer Frank Klepacki plus community favorites like Michael Markie, Hexenkraft, The Witcher composer Adam Skorupa, and Sigurd Jøhnk-Jensen
Pre-ordering any of the two editions grants access to the Commander Pack, which contains “a variety of exclusive in-game cosmetics, including bonus player icons, skins, cursors and more.”
Tempest Rising’ss multiplayer demo grants access to three maps – The Alps (2v2), Oasis (1v1), and Altitude (1v1). PvE enthusiasts can also join in on the mayhem thanks to the inclusion of a skirmish versus AI mode.
A shiny new pre-order trailer, which you can watch below, also marks the occasion.
If you’re out of the loop, Tempest Rising is set in an alternate timeline where the Cuban Missile Crisis didn’t reach a peaceful conclusion.
We get to take part of the conflict through its two campaigns, taking control of asymmetrical factions while juggling controlling our armies and building up our base.
Perhaps the closest thing to a modern-day Command and Conquer game so far, Tempest Rising is set to launch on PC come April 24, 2025.
