The Cycle: Frontier has plenty of monsters to hunt, be they weird dinosaurs or even other players. One of the most common types of predator you’ll find on Fortuna 3 is the Strider.
Striders have a small loot table that includes the Spinal Base, Strider Flesh, and the Strider Head - the rarest drop of the three. The Strider Head is also the most useful, especially for newer players, but how can it be used?
The Cycle: Frontier Strider Head Location
Strider Heads are a pretty decent sellable early on, fetching 6812 Krypto Marks on the open market, which should easily cover any costs for your trip to the surface - assuming you make it out alive.
The heads are also a crafting component, being used to craft uncommon helmets. These helmets do their job nicely at a reasonable price and are really the minimum you should be taking on your prospecting journeys.
While the Striders aren’t a particularly difficult enemy to face, there are some things that make dealing with them a challenge. For one, they tend to come in packs and combined with their speed, this makes them dangerous to fight.
A large pack of Stiders will rapidly deplete your ammunition, and if another player hears you shooting, you could find yourself fighting on two fronts with your clip almost empty.
For this reason, many players find themselves killing Striders with a knife. This sounds mad at first, after all, who would want to attack a melee creature in melee? Even so, a charged knife attack on their heads will kill them instantly… and silently, keeping your location hidden from nearby players.
