Publisher and developer Bloober Team today revealed a new character for upcoming psychological horror game The Medium in a new trailer.
Based on actor Marcin Dorociński – known for his work on the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit – The Medium’s newest and currently unnamed character is introduced as a menacing presence that seems to have some semblance of control over a nasty-looking tentacle.
“This mysterious figure is capable of ruthlessness and brutality and has his own revenge driven agenda.” reads an emailed press release that keeps things rather cryptic.
The Medium Reveals Character Based on Marcin Dorociński
The trailer introducing Marcin Dorociński’s character also gives us a glimpse at the horrors that await past the corridors of the Medium’s Niwa Hotel.
Picture a decrepit world that’s been touched by both Lovercraft’s imagination and Papa Nurgle, and you’ll get a good idea of what to expect. Or, better yet, Google some of Zdzisław Beksiński’s paintings that directly influenced its design.
Slimy tentacles hang from above, blocking staircases; bones litter the ground, all while everything is enveloped by a sickly greenish hue. It’s really the stuff of nightmares.
The Medium will have players simultaneously exploring its dual realities, interacting with elements present in both to solve puzzles and forge ahead.
Bloober team calls it its “largest and most ambitious project to date” and we’ll get to see how accurate that claim is when The Medium launches on January 28, 2021, on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
Pre-ordering the game will discount its base price of $49,99/€49,99/£41.74 by 10% and also get you its original soundtrack composed by Akira Yamaoka and Arkadiusz Reikowski, alongside The Art of The Medium digital artbook.
