Supermassive Games’s The Dark Pictures Anthology is widely known among horror enthusiasts thanks to the developer’s distinct approach to cinematic horror games, which we’ll soon get to see in a different setting when The Quarry’s release date comes around.
Published by 2K Games, The Quarry is not part of the developer’s storied series and aims to provide fans with an extra serving of horror in 2022. A lot of familiar elements are still there, from a heavy emphasis on player choice to multiple protagonists, but a new setting and threat see players attempting to keep nine characters alive, as a cozy evening quickly becomes a nightmare. The Quarry Release Date
The Quarry’s release date is currently slated for June 10, 2022, when the game is set to arrive on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.
The Quarry Story
Set at Hackett’s Quarry, the game’s story follows a group of nine camp counselors during the last day of summer camp.
What starts off as an occasion to kick back and relax before going back to their daily lives, quickly devolves into a nightmare, as blood-drenched locals and other, more sinister forces, begin hunting them.
Players accompany all nine characters as they attempt to survive the night, getting to decide their fates.
The Quarry Gameplay
The Quarry likely mixes developer Supermassive’s trademark gameplay style which involves quick decision-making with sequences during which you explore your surroundings, interacting with different objects to move the story forward.
Your choices have a lot of weight behind them, ultimately deciding which characters make it out alive. As the developer notes, “even simple, seemingly unimportant interactions between characters are significant.”
Like with its previous titles, death likely doesn’t mean you see a game over screen, as the story adapts to progress without those characters.
You can play The Quarry on your own or alongside friends, both in a local pass-the-controller mode and online. The latter allows up to 7 other players to join you and weigh in on every decision you make.
The title also features adjustable difficulty and a movie mode, in which you can pick between different versions of the story, customize the traits of each of the character, and watch events unfold without having to actively be a part of them.

The Quarry is priced at 59,99€/$59,99 or your regional equivalent. You can find its PC version on Steam and its console versions on their respective storefronts. Its system requirements have also been shared.
