The Valiant was officially unveiled as publisher THQ Nordic and developer Kite Games’ next squad-based RTS. When its release date comes around, players will put their skills as tacticians to the test across the battlefields of 13th century Europe and the Middle East.
Its blend of strategy, tactics, and RPG elements is supported by a hefty narrative that stretches over the course of 15 missions. Its story explores the adventures of Theoderich von Akenburg, a former member of the Knights Templar who attempts to keep a former comrade from getting his hands on a mysterious relic. The Valiant Release Date
The Valiant’s release date is no longer as mysterious as the relic at the center of its narrative. The publisher has now revealed that the strategy game will arrive on PC as soon as October 19, 2022.
The Valiant Story
The Valiant focuses on protagonist Theoderich von Akenburg, a former member of the Knights Templar who after spilling his fair share of blood, vows to never again take up arms.
Chivalry forces him to break his vow, when he discovers that Ulrich, a former comrade of his, is seeking the missing pieces of with Aaron’s rod, a divine relic “never meant to be possessed by man” and one that he’s, naturally, obsessed with.
His journey across different lands also sees several companions joining him in and outside of combat. Although they each have their reasons for doing so, they all share the desire to keep the rod as far away from Ulrich as possible.
The Valiant Gameplay
Gameplay-wise, The Valiant puts tactics at the forefront. You won’t be building any bases, instead focusing on smaller engagements where properly managing each squad under your command is important if you plan on emerging victorious.
Available units range from archers, to swordsmen able to resist blows and swift cavalry. They’re led into battle by heroes who have access to a series of different equipment pieces – each with its own stats – as well as three skill trees that allow you to customize their passive and active abilities.
This allows you to build characters differently, in a way that suits your playstyle. Aside from its single-player campaign, The Valiant also features two multiplayer modes.
Last Man Standing focuses on cooperation, pitting 3 players against waves of enemies which include bosses and minibosses. The game’s PvP mode is all about 1v1 and 2v2 scenarios revolving around capturing control points and building up your armies.
Where can you buy The Valiant and how much does it cost?
The Valiant is slated to launch on PC, via both – Steam and the Epic Games Store – alongside Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4. Its price will be announced closer to launch.
