Assassin's Creed Odyssey</a> is the famous Ubisoft franchise's latest offering, thrusting players into the sandals of a Greek mercenary, doing... mercenary stuff in Ancient Greece. All of its other interesting features aside, Odyssey also comes packing a special battle royale mode!
The twist is, of course, that it's not actually a multiplayer battle royale. Instead, it's a special sort of singleplayer "dungeon", where your avatar gets thrown onto an island that's entirely dedicated to 100-person-free-for-all combat and told to go and have fun.
You're familiar with the gist of it by now, we presume. Assassin's Creed Odyssey's battle royale follows the general idea posited by oh-so-many contemporary titles, where 100 people are let loose in a given area to slaughter one another, because there can only be one.
Of course, the freshness of this particular instance comes from the fact that it's an Assassin's Creed game - for better or worse - and because it's a singleplayer endeavour with a focus on chaotic melee combat. The battle royale bonanza can be found on the isle of Melos, which is relatively late in the game.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is set to come out this Friday, on the 5th of October, and Game Watcher is going to have a review out soon as well, so be sure to check in to see when it goes live.
