Publisher Sega and developer Creative Assembly today announced Total War: Pharaoh as the next historical entry in their long-running series of grand strategy games. Set during the Egyptian New Kingdom period, it tasks us with leading its three cultures to glory while fighting for survival during the Bronze-Age collapse.
Total War: Pharaoh launches with eight playable faction leaders, each with their own unique playstyle and diverse unit roster. Whether taking on the role of a peerless diplomat, unwavering commander, or rampaging warlord, you’ll lead your faction through natural disasters while fending off invaders.
Total War: Pharaoh Announced
The campaign takes us “from the fertile banks of the river Nile to the windswept, arid deserts of the Sinai Peninsula and the mountainous crags of ancient Anatolia,” promising a variety of biomes across which we’ll march our troops.
Although we’ll face our fair share of enemy armies, Total War: Pharaoh also throws “sudden and dramatic shifts in weather” into the mix.
Thunderstorms and sandstorms can impact the surrounding terrain, influencing the course of battles. Fire is another threat to look out for, capable of burning forests, spreading across the battlefield, as well as damaging settlements.
An extended range of campaign customization options is also available, including the ability to select random starting positions for all factions, but also tweak detailed resource settings, natural disasters, and more.
Aside from contributing to overall replayability, they allow you to significantly up the challenge or set up a considerably more relaxed campaign.
Total War: Pharaoh is slated to launch digitally on PC at some point in October 2023.
Pre-orders are now live, granting anyone who buys the game before release entry to an early access weekend that’s set to take place at a currently unannounced date alongside the Avatar of the Gods and the Heart of the Shardana cosmetic packs.
Its standard edition is priced at $59.99/€59.99/£49.99, while its Deluxe Edition, which includes the base game, the first DLC faction pack, as well as the soundtrack costs $72.87/€72.87/£61.17.
The Dynasty Edition will then set you back $91.46/€91.46/£77.96, coming with everything in the Deluxe Edition plus two additional DLC faction packs as well as a DLC campaign pack.
