Publisher Sega and developer Creative Assembly today shared more details about how the daemons of Slaanesh play in Total War: Warhammer 3, concluding the series of faction reveals for the upcoming strategy game. N’Kari, the Arch-Temptor, leads the Dark Prince’s army into battle as a quick fighter who excels at hunting down isolated prey.
N’Kari’s Harvester of Souls ability passively heals him whenever an enemy unit is eradicated nearby, while his Willing Prey ability greatly saps enemy melee defense and attack capabilities, leaving them more vulnerable when facing his forces.
Speed is the primary strength of Slaanesh’s armies in Total War: Warhammer 3 and it comes doubled by serious armor-piercing damage. They favor hit and run tactics, gaining currency for killing routed units, which they can spend on three abilities that further buff them.
On the campaign map, Slaanesh’s forces focus on making their master’s hedonistic message heard. The Gifts of Slaanesh mechanic makes it so that certain hero actions and defeating enemy characters in battle bestows a number of nasty debuffs on your foes.
The faction can also forcibly vassalize opponents provided their seductive influence is high enough. Lastly, it can capture Devotees from battle, Chaos Cults, and through other means, which can be used to create more cults, raise Disciple Armies, or create vassals.
Daemonettes and Fiends make up the core of the Lord of Pleasure’s armies, while Heartseekers and Hellstrider “provide lightning-quick cavalry support.” If N’Kari has other matters to attend to, you can expect to also face Keepers of Secrets and Heralds of Slaanesh.
Total War: Warhammer 3’s seven launch factions have all been revealed now, making up for a roster that caters to a variety of playstyles. Where Tzeentch focuses on magic, the Ogre Kingdoms are all about mass and muscle, with Cathay’s armies striving for balance and harmony.
Total War: Warhammer 3’s is headed to PC on February 17, 2022.
