Creative Assembly plans for Total War: Warhammer 3 to wrap up the trilogy with a bang and at least a bucketload of demons. After showing off Kislev’s sturdy army and ice magic alongside Khorne’s monstrously bloodthirsty warriors, the developer will next focus on detailing other bulwark of the Old World: Grand Cathay.
The catch is that we’ll have to wait a bit until Total War: Warhammer 3’s Grand Cathay reveal happens. The developer will take a break from news regarding the final entry in the trilogy and there will be “no major trailers, no feature reveals, no screenshots or concept art, as we prepare for the next phase of communication.”
Currently, it aims to return from this break at some point in September, according to a post on the official Total War website, which is when we’ll learn more about Warhammer’s 3 Grand Cathay race.
“Designed in our long-standing collaboration with Games Workshop, we’re almost as excited about finally showing it off as you are about playing it. It’s a land of harmony, of great celestial cities and dragons, and of one of the most powerful armies in the world,” the post reads.
“With the Grand reveal will come information on siege battles, as the incredible power of the Old World’s largest empire must stand resolute against the tides of Chaos, their Great Bastion holding firm. We will show you not only unique elements for Cathay, but also the general system changes that support every siege battle going forward.”
Afterward, the three remaining Chaos Gods will get their time in the spotlight, but you can already check out a few pieces of concept art for some of their units, including the massive purple-pink Soul Grinder of Tzeentch, in the post linked above. More details on what early adopters get, alongside “day one minor system reworks and features we haven’t even mentioned yet” are also on the way.
The latter apparently include “diplomacy upgrades, UI changes, tutorial improvements, and much more.” Although the upcoming break will no doubt make summer ever so longer for those of us aching to learn more about Total War: Warhammer 3, Warhammer 2’s final DLC is an excellent piece of content that should give us plenty to slay and strategize until the veil is lifted from Grand Cathay.
