Total War: Warhammer 3’s Lizardmen faction already boasts an impressive number of dinosaur units but, for the team behind the title’s Lost Calm: Jurassic Normal mod, it wasn’t quite enough.
And who can argue against Warhammer 3’s Lizardmen getting even more dino units, especially if it comes through a mod that also encourages adventuring across the world?
Total War: Warhammer 3 Lost Calm: Jurassic Normal Mod
Total War: Warhammer III’s Lost Calm: Jurassic Normal mod introduces as many as 37 new dinosaur units for Lizardmen players to collect.
29 of them can be obtained by sending expeditions to special sites on the map, with the remaining 8 being unlocked through dilemmas and narrative events for a bit of added variety.
Expeditions borrow from Cathay’s caravan mechanic, allowing you to recruit an expedition chief, pick a destination, and deal with a mixture of dilemmas and battles on the way.
The key difference between them comes from how expedition teams don’t physically move across the map, remaining always hidden from enemies.
“They are imagined to be stationed at covert monitoring posts outside the sites, awaiting orders to cross the border,” the mod’s creators note. “As such, they appear instantly at the target site and remain there, in hidden encampment stance, until their work is completed.”
Each expedition undertaken as part of Total War: Warhammer III’s Lost Calm: Jurassic Normal mod has a goal that determines its rewards.
Two are available right away, with two more unlocking as you level up your expedition chiefs and invest points in their skill trees. As you can expect, the latter goals lead to stronger units.
It isn’t just the Lizardmen who take note of these new dino units in Total War: Warhammer III’s Lost Calm: Jurassic Normal mod, either.
Warmblooded Trespassers and much stronger Adversaries frequently find their sites, giving you the option of attacking their armies or ignoring them. Give them too much space and you’ll inevitably have to deal with more difficult dilemmas.
All in all, Total War: Warhammer III’s Lost Calm: Jurassic Normal mod is a great addition to your list if you wanted more dinosaur units in your Lizardmen roster (and we all know that the faction can always use additional dinos to throw at its enemies).
While the mod does not work for Nakai, it is compatible with multiple popular mods, including Immortal Empires Expanded.
