Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is scheduled for an Autumn 2019 release, developer Frozenbyte and publisher Modus Games announced today. The title will launch on PC (Steam, Discord and other PC platforms), PS4, Xbox one and Nintendo Switch.
At the same time, fans will also be able to get their hands on Trine: Ultimate Collection, which contains all four games in the series. It will be available both physically and digitally on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
“After years apart, the Astral Academy has requested help from the three heroes to find Prince Selius, whose intensely dark nightmares have begun to slip into reality and wreak havoc on the waking world.”, the press release reads.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince returns to the series 2.5D roots while reuniting its heroes, Amadeus, Pontius, and Zoya, for a nightmare-infused fairytale adventure. A good dose of platforming is on the way, alongside many physics-based puzzles.
The fourth entry in the series will feature revamped combat. Four-player co-op will also be available for the first time in the series’ history.
If you choose to purchase the retail versions of the two upcoming titles, they come with some extra goodies. Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince retail copies also include a physical map of the game’s world, while the retail version of Trine: Ultimate Edition comes with a download code for the Trine series original soundtrack, a code for the Trine 4 digital art book, a collector’s reversible cover sheet, and the physical Trine 4 world map.
