Publisher Kalypso Media has announced that celebrations for Tropico’s 20th anniversary are now underway. Tropico 6 has received a free content update, while sales across all platforms discount the titles in the series and their DLC.
The latter introduces a Piñata Llama hunt, a set of new in-game decorations, and colorful fireworks. El Presidente’s decade-spanning benevolence and wisdom is also reflected through a new sparkly, golden palace.
The in-game Tropico 20th anniversary celebrations last until May 5, but if you’re planning to complete your collection on Steam, you’ll have to act faster, as the deluge of discounts only lasts until April 26.
PC discounts should also be coming to the Epic Games Store, according to the publisher, but are not live at the time of writing.
The long-running Tropico series is known for its city builder titles that focus on setting up and managing your own banana republic.
In between providing for your citizens and making sure that those who speak against you go on a more or less permanent vacation, you also get to manage relationships with foreign powers and, in later entries, steal iconic landmarks from across the world.
Kalypso Media, who is also celebrating its 15th anniversary later this year, took over as publisher starting with Tropico 3, which released in 2009. It and the following two entries were developed by Haemimont Games, who then went on to work on Surviving Mars.
Tropico 6 saw Limbic Entertainment heading development and has received a steady amount of post-launch DLC. Check out the video below to get a better sense of what awaits you in-game as part of Tropico’s 20th anniversary.
