Valheim’s procedurally generated worlds arguably contribute to keeping the game fresh across multiple hours. Having to travel far for those resources you need, not knowing what biome you’ll enter next, or which foes wait behind the hill you’re struggling to climb – these can all create memorable experiences for some players.
But others might enjoy braving a more predictable landscape with historical roots. If that sounds like you, Valheim’s Europe mod should be right up your alley.
Valheim’s Europe mod is technically a world save that shapes the in-game landscape to resemble the old continent. According to creator Conflictx players can “raid the shores of Europe, invade the UK and settle it or find Iceland after a long trek on the ocean,” which sounds like a neat change of pace.
If you plan on making Europe your own in Valheim, you’ll first need to install the Better Continents and WorldGenOptions mods, as features from both were used to arrange the continent’s landscape.
Afterwards, simply downloading the world save from Nexus Mods and extracting it in C:\Users**\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds should place you on the shores of the Netherlands the next time you boot up the game.
Valheim’s success is widely known now and it’s always fascinating to see modders do their thing even in the absence of official mod support. Check out some of the best Valheim mods available so far.
