Publisher Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate today revealed that hit survival game Valheim has sold more than 10 million copies since launching in early access last February.
The Viking-inspired survival game reached an all-time concurrent users peak of 502,000 and boasts Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam, making it one of last year’s most beloved titles.
Much like an influx of new players sets off to explore its world, the team behind the game is hammering away at its next major update, Mistlands.
Although we’ve only had glimpses of it until now, we do know that it will introduce a new biome, new creatures to interact with and get murdered by, as well as new craftable items.
“We never imagined Valheim would become so big, not even in our wildest dreams, and the past year flew by faster than we anticipated.” said Richard Svensson, Iron Gate CEO.
He also noted that the team working on the game “has doubled since launch” and that its “ambitions for the game have never been stronger.”
It’s safe to say that Valheim has already established itself as a major name in the survival genre, which is no small feat. More details about its Mistlands update will likely be shared over the coming months.
