Gog.com has announced that classic real-time strategy titles Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and Warcraft II Battle.net Edition are now available for purchase on the website.
Just like with the original Diablo, this is part of an effort, done in collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment, to make the company’s classic titles available for purchase again and playable on modern machines. This is also a nice way to mark the series’ upcoming 25th anniversary.
How Much Do Warcraft and Warcraft II Cost?
Returning to experience the first battle for Azeroth again in Warcraft: Orcs & Humans will set you back $5.99/5.29€, depending on your region. The Gog.com version of the game is able to run on modern operating systems straight after downloading it, so there’s no need to install any aditional stuff.
Warcraft II Battle.net Edition costs $9.99/8.89€ and includes both the original Tides of Darkness game and its Beyond the Dark Portal expansion. Furthermore, purchasing it on Gog.com will give you access to two versions of the game: one updated with support for high-resolution displays and multiplayer via LAN connections and another that features the original SVGA graphics, and matchmaking through the classic version of the Battle.net online service.
Lastly, you can purchase the Warcraft I & II Bundle which includes everything listed above. The bundle is priced at $14.99/13.29€. While not exactly remasters, being able to play these classic Blizzard titles is the next best thing for long-time fans of the series and an easy way to introduce newcomers to a piece of video game history.
