Warframe is one of those games that require both time and effort if you want to figure stuff out on the go. For some, this is a blessing, while others see it to be more of a curse. In any case, any game that requires a Wiki page for you to navigate its labyrinthian features deserves as many third-party tutorials as can possibly be spared.
In this article, for example, you will learn how to breed a Kavat - a cat-like, feathery lizard-creature that preys on Technocyte, is exceedingly agile and stealthy and fulfils the role of a support companion in active combat.
There are a few things you'll need before even attempting to breed a Kavat, the first of which is the Incubator module for your Orbiter spaceship. While this can be purchased outright from the Market for 175 Platinum, the far preferable way of going about getting one is for you to join a Clan and purchase the Nutrio Incubator Upgrade Segment blueprint for 15 000 credits, and then build it.
The next step is for you to get a Kavat Incubator Upgrade Segment which can, again, be found in your Clan Dojo, or as a rare drop from the Hyekka Master Grineer enemy. Note that, to build the Kavat Incubator upgrade, you will need to find 10 Kavat Genetic Codes, which is the same resource that's used to breed Kavats themselves. Alongside this, a single Argon crystal will be necessary as well, which can be farmed out reasonably quickly in the Void tileset, especially if you have a Nekros Warframe.
Kavat Genetic Codes do sometimes appear as randomised Alert mission rewards, usually in clusters of 5. A more reliable way of getting them, however, is for you to go to build one of the many Orokin Derelict keys to access this Technocyte-infested area. Be sure to equip a Scanner of some sort before entering the mission, as you'll have to not only find Feral Kavat, which spawn on every Derelict location, but also scan them to have a chance to get a Genetic Code.
Once you've got 20 Genetic Codes (10 for the Upgrade, 10 more to actually breed an animal), the only thing left to do is to kickstart the Nutrio Incubator using an Incubator Power Core (which does cost 100k credits and a single Argon crystal to craft, among other stuff) and wait out the incubation, which takes 48 hours (24 with an additional Incubator Upgrade Segment, which is optional).
After 48 hours have passed, you will find a baby Kavat waiting for you! What sort of Kavat you get is random, and you can get either an offensively-oriented Adarza or a passive-focused Smeeta, both a real boon for practical gameplay.
Down below you'll find the trailer for an actual Kavat-oriented Warframe, Khora, who comes with a special Kavat of her own.
