Publisher Plaion and developer Caged Element announced during today’s Warhammer Skulls Festival that their newest title, Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks, has now entered alpha and is available on Steam.
Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is a free-to-play game that blends multiplayer racing and shooter elements, putting players in the roles of Orks controlling scrappy vehicles and competing against each other.
Warhammer 40,000 Speed Freeks
Speed Freeks features several classes of vehicles, including damage, tank, and support wagons, which you can race across multiple maps. They each have distinct abilities that cater to different playstyles.
Its initial alpha, which kicks off today, features “a limited number of vehicles and levels,” alongside just one of its planned game modes: Conquest. In it, teams of players “race to capture points and fight for bigger scores.”
Two more modes are planned to launch later down the line. Chase sees teams racing “to capture points and fight to control them in succession.”
Convoy Mode revolves around “protecting your team’s formidable Convoy while attacking the enemy’s and battling in-between.”
Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks supports 16-player matches, during which we can embody Orks sitting behind the wheel of 7 unique vehicles.
If you’re keen on learning more about the Orks’ outstanding ability to race and shoot at the same time, you’ll find more details on Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks’ Steam page.
