Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s Bile Trolls are some of the most challenging foes the Ubersreik Four have to face. They’re capable of both strong melee attacks and spitting corrosive bile at anyone unlucky enough to be in front of them, so it’s easy to see why players started panicking when the creatures seemed to also be able to fully regenerate. Thankfully, that’s just a visual health bar bug added in the recent Sister of the Thorn update.
Vermintide 2’s Bile Trolls enter a downed state once you empty half of their health bar. Usually, the empty portion of the health bar turns yellow, representing the amount of health the creature will regenerate when it exits the downed state, unless players diligently hack away at it. If your party removes all of it, you’ll just have to deal half a health bar’s worth of damage to permanently kill the Troll.
Vermintide 2 Bile Troll Bug
At some point after the Sister of the Thorn update or one of its hotfixes went live, players started noticing that the Bile Troll’s health bar would rocket back up to full regardless of how much damage they dealt. This, naturally, sent parties panicking, at least until they downed the beast as they usually would.
Vermintide 2’s Bile Troll health bar bug is, however, solely visual in nature. On top of that, it only seems to affect guests, as players hosting the game report not seeing it.
This essentially means that, although the monster seems to have gained more potent regenerative capabilities, that’s not actually the case and you should be able to kill it as quickly as you normally would. Just remember to avoid its attacks, especially when near ledges, and generally try not to die.
We’ve reached out to Fatshark for comment and received the following statement from the developer:
“We are aware of the issue with the health bar, which is a visual bug only. The health bar is visible for the host, but the people that joined the game get the bug. We don’t plan to hotfix this as we typically reserve hotfixes for the most critical of issues but this is on the list to get patched in the near future.”
