Rogue Legacy 2 is a big game filled with tonnes of secrets to find and unique mechanics to use. Given its huge size, it can be quite easy to get lost in all there is to do. If you’ve found one and don’t know what to do with it, this is what you should know about Rogue Legacy 2 Memory Fragments.
What are Rogue Legacy 2 Memory Fragments?
Memory Fragments are one of the game’s central storytelling components. They are small orbs that allow you to gain insight into the castle, suggesting where you should go next or giving the solution to a puzzle. As the entire game is based around your lineage and the role of your bloodline - it seems likely that these are hints left by your ancestors.
Initially, when you click on them, they will only display the message “You hear a thousand whispers, but can’t make out a voice”. Luckily, this puzzle is solvable.

In an effort to allow some depth to the way you explore and uncover the castle, Rogue Legacy 2 has a handful of story checkpoints that give you new mechanics. To solve this, you need Aesop’s Tome. Unfortunately, the game is randomised making this a little harder. You will find it in the first main area in the game but it could be in any of the rooms. Just keep searching around until you find it. If you manage to find it and don’t collect it before you die, you can lock in place the castle with the architect, at the expense of some of your gold.
Though the hit to your gold sucks, it is worth it if the location is good enough. After you have found the tome and completed its challenge, head back to the memory fragment to unlock a special piece of the story. This is worth doing early on if you want to unlock some of the castle’s very best secrets.
