World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic has now opened its gates, letting players nostalgic and new take the fight to Arthas. If you’ve been spending some time in Azeroth’s northmost continent, chances are you’ve heard talk of Northrend Adventuring Supplies and might be wondering what they are.
WoW: WotLK Classic’s Northrend Adventuring Supplies are both a boon and a source of contention at the start of the expansion. On the one hand, some players are glad to receive additional consumable items while adventuring. On the other, alchemists are worried about the potential negative impact on their profession’s profitability.
WotLK Classic Northrend Adventuring Supplies
From what we can tell, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic’s launch brings with it two ways of obtaining Northrend Adventuring Supplies. One involves simply completing certain quests, such as the major ones in an area’s chain.
You also receive WotLK Classic Northrend Adventuring Supplies if you complete dungeons in the sought-after roles of a tank or a healer. In this case, they’re rewarded after you kill the final boss.
Northrend Adventuring Supplies appear in your inventory and need to be opened. Once you do so, you get a variety of different consumable items, including elixirs, potions, food, and drinks. Needless to say, they’re quite handy both while leveling and heading into dungeons.
Some players have also received mounts that used to drop in vanilla and TBC Classic dungeons, such as the Reins of the Raven Lord. As you probably expect, the chance to get them does seem to be rather low.
Nevertheless, as you’re probably not going to farm these mounts while you’re busy racing to level 80, they make the supplies even more appealing.
On the flip side, the ease with which they can be obtained and the rather generous offering of random consumable items worry some players pursuing alchemy as a profession.
A mainstay of World of Warcraft’s endgame since launch, elixirs and potions are regularly used while raiding.
Selling them on the auction house was always profitable in the past, alchemists fearing that WotLK Classic’s Northrend Adventuring Supplies might keep the price of their usual moneymakers down.
It’s hard to tell until players start properly raiding, but it will certainly be interesting to see if these fears are unfounded or if Blizzard will step in and alter the rate at which supplies are given or the nature of their contents.
On September 28, a hotfix was pushed to live servers, adding ore, leather, cloth, herbs, and gems to the potential types of rewards obtained when opening the supplies. The number of awarded consumables has also been reduced.
That’s what we know so far about World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic’s Northrend Adventuring Supplies. For more help with the MMO, here’s how to get to Dalaran.
