WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is what happens when you combine the classic Quake 1 engine with modern-day tech and sensibilities. It's grim, it's brutal, and it's every bit as fast as you remember Quake 1 being. It looks great, too, considering.
WRATH will not only run on the good old Quake engine we all know and love, but it's also being developed by 3D Realms - the talent behind classic Duke Nukem games. All of this combined makes for a very promising release indeed!
WRATH: Aeon of Ruin tasks you, the Outlander, with hunting down Guardians of the Old World, which is all but certainly code from humongous, badass boss monsters. In order to do so, you'll have access to 9 unique weapons, each of which will also pack at least one additional firing mode to boot.
Developers promise 3 intricate Hubs, as well as 15 "enormous, interconnected levels" to tie things together. Of course, every given level will also be filled to the brim with hordes of unrelenting enemies for the Outlander to dispatch. Alongside weapons, there will also be 10 powerful artefacts to collect, though what sort of effect these might have on gameplay is still unknown.
WRATH will also come featuring classic Quake-like multiplayer modes, as well as being built from the ground up to be easily moddable. Since the game will run on classic Quake 1 tech, there's bound to be a substantial number of modders who'll quickly produce new content, as well.
WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is now slated for a Summer 2019 release, so there's not all that much waiting left at all. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments.
