Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is a Quake 1-engine powered FPS from 3D Realms, and it was announced last week to much fanfare. The retro-style FPS has got a lot of FPS fans excited, and to prove how retro it is, 3D Realms has just announced that there will be Wrath: Aeon of Ruin 3dfx support.
Except, not really. That'd be impossible. 3dfx and Voodoo don't even exist anymore. It's a fun joke from 3D Realms. This didn't stop a number of people and internet places from falling for the joke and reporting it as news. Now, we're reporting on them as news. We love the internet.
3D Realms posted the supposed announcement on their Twitter feed recently, and a fair few people fell for it.
YOU ASKED FOR IT, WE'RE BRINGING IT!

3DFX were so kind to send us a Voodoo 2 card with 12(!!) megs.
We're honored, proud and humbled to announce that @wrathgame will have 3DFX support!
Say it with us: "So powerful, it's kind of ridiculous"#3dfx #voodoo2 #rtxoff #WRATH pic.twitter.com/Ok7OyvmcFu
Among the victims include DSO Gaming, GameGuru, and Spark Chronicles.
Just to be sure, it is absolutely a joke, as 3D Realms' Frederik Schreiber confirmed. "You can't run modern games on anything remotely close to a Voodoo 2, just as you can't run Ion Maiden in MS-DOS", he points out, along with the fact that 3dfx doesn't even exist anymore. "Maybe we should start to support the Rendition Verite and Matrox Mystique as well?" If you've heard of those two, you're old (we have).
Seeing as similar retro FPS DUSK won our Game of the Year award last year, it's no surprise that we're looking forward to Wrath. We'll have more on it when we get it.
