Publisher Hooded Horse has announced that Xenonauts 2 is scheduled to enter early access for PC on July 18th. While a sequel, this game is more accurately described as a creative re-envisioning of the original vision set out in 2014’s Xenonauts.
Xenonauts 2 unfolds within an alternate timeline where the Cold War persists. Much like its predecessor, the game challenges players to helm a multinational organisation, orchestrating a collaborative endeavor to probe and combat extraterrestrial activities across the globe.
Xenonauts 2 Early Access Release Date
Construct a strategic network of bases for alien activity surveillance, train, and arm squads to counter alien invasions, and delve into alien technology research to repurpose it against these extraterrestrial foes.
In Xenonauts 2, while traditional classes are absent, soldiers evolve their skills organically through combat experiences. As advancements in alien research drive the technological progression of the organisation, experienced soldiers can be tailored and outfitted with advanced armaments and defense equipment.
We rather enjoyed Xenonauts when it was released back in 2014, calling it a “faithful modernization of a classic. It retains the features that made X-COM such a tense and memorable game, and if Firaxis’ revamped take on the series felt a little too directed and linear for you, then Xenonauts is likely to delight.” in our review.
Xenonauts 2 is set to be released in early access for the PC on Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store.
