Ubisoft has announced that while their ambitious MMOFPS Tom Clancy’s The Division is still on target for 8th March, 2016 launch, the beta has been delayed on PC and console platforms.
Originally, the beta was planned for December, but will not be taking place in early 2016. What makes the announcement odd is that gamers who preordered The Division on the Xbox One will have an exclusive alpha test this Wednesday through Friday, December 9th to 12th; players who didn’t preorder are on a waitlist.
The Xbox One alpha will give some insight to gameplay on all platforms, and some of what to expect from the beta. The alpha will focus on the Dark Zone PvP enabled areas. ”This means the moment you and other players sign into the game, you’ll be giving us valuable insight into how our infrastructure performs under pressure that we can’t replicate internally or at a tradeshow,” the Ubisoft blog explains.
Gamers in the alpha will be signing an NDA, but it’s likely there will still be leaked footage, so stay tuned. The Division was originally set to be released years ago, but has been delayed repeatedly. It remains to be seen if it’ll hold to its 8th March, 2016 launch.
