When it comes to building an MMORPG, one of the first things on the minds of the player is where they're going to sleep at night. For the roleplayers, it's a big deal; for everyone else, it's just a way to feel more connected with the game. 'The Elder Scrolls Online' will finally deliver this pleasure with a rather robust player housing feature.
Announced yesterday to be arriving in February, the Homestead update will bring almost 40 different housing styles into the game to match the world's 10 different races. Once you've purchases a pad, you can decorate it with over 2,000 furnishings.
Unlike how some other MMOs handle it, homes within The Elder Scrolls Online won't be locked before a limited, first-come-first-served struggle for server space. Each house is instanced, meaning there shouldn't be any lack of abodes to call your own, and no potential for a player-created housing monopoly when it comes to flipping homes for a profit. Rejoice!
What's the latest in Tamrial? We have a post chronicling each of the game's recent patches.
We'll start to learn a little more about the update closer to release. And with a beta test period taking place in January for PC/Mac owners in January, it won't be too long before we're planning out which crafts to master to build the homes of our dreams.
To tide us over, however, there's already a 'First Look' trailer showing us homes pieces together using nothing but the editor tool we'll gain access to once the update arrives.
