Let’s be real here–we all need a little senseless destruction in our virtual lives. The advances in narrative design we’ve had over the years have been absolutely wonderful, but every now and then, I still need a game where I can blow stuff up in the most ridiculous way. Thankfully, Just Cause is here to fill that need, and it looks like it’s getting even sillier with its upcoming DLC.
The season pass is called ”Air, Land & Sea” (curse this title’s infuriating lack of an Oxford comma), and true to its name, features three pieces of content, each focused on air, land, or sea shenanigans.
The first expansion, Sky Fortress, will pit Rico against a flying fortification and its fleet of robotic drones. How shall our unlikely hero prevail? With “a new upgradeable, rocket-powered, weaponised ‘Bavarium Wingsuit’ fitted with shoulder mounted machine guns and auto targeting missiles.” Yes, Rico is now a human jet fighter, and that’s pretty cool.
Land Mech Assault, the second expansion will feature another set of new missions and an armored mech vehicle with a gravity gun that lets you fling stuff around the environment. (I look forward to Just Cause 4, which at this rate will simply follow the plot of Pacific Rim.) There are no details yet on the final piece of content, Bavarium Sea Assault, but I feel confident in saying it will be delightfully silly.
Sky Fortress is due out in March, and all three expansions are expected before the end of the summer. Sky Fortress alone will cost $11.99, while the expansion pass with all three add-ons is currently available at $24.99. Folks who pick up the expansion pass will also get access to each piece of content a week early.
