Fallout 76 is nearly here, and it brings with it a new way of getting skills. In particular, how do you get Fallout 76 lockpicking, and how does it work? We've got the answers.
With the new SPECIAL system, that does things with Perk Cards rather than just simply putting skill points into abilities, it can be a little difficult to get such key skills as Lockpicking. So how do you get Fallout 76 lockpicking? We'll show you.
How To Get and Use Fallout 76 Lockpicking
To even get the Lockpicking skill, you'll need to get to Level 5. You then choose Lockpicking as the Perk card you want when you level up, and equip it. There are three levels to Lockpicking, and unlike most Perk cards you'll need to equip three separate cards in order to pick harder level locks. The three picklock Perk cards, and the lock levels they'll allow you to access, are:
- Picklock – Enables you to pick level 1 locks.
- Expert Picklock – Enables you to pick level 2 locks.
- Master Picklock – Enables you to pick level 3 locks.
</ul>
Once you've got at least the Picklock Perk card equipped you can start lockpicking at level 1.
After this the Lockpicking proceeds like previous Fallout games, or Skyrim. You'll need Bobby Pins, which you can either find in the environment, on dead enemies, or bought at a trader for around 12 caps each (which isn't cheap). You get a zoom in of the lock and the bobby pin, which you can move across the top half-circle of the lock. The goal is to find the sweet spot. Hold 'Use' and if the lock moves, it's the correct spot. If instead the lockpick jiggles it's the wrong spot, so quickly stop using it or the pin will break. If the lock moved a little and then the pin started, you're very close to the correct spot.
It's a bit trial and error if you've never done it before, but you'll soon get the hang of it!
