Hogwarts Legacy gives you plenty to do outside of classes. If you’ve explored the school and its surroundings a bit, you might be wondering how to open the eye chests you occasionally bump into and whether or not a spell might be the key.
How to open eye chests in Hogwarts Legacy is a question that pops up during the early game. If you’ve seen one during your first visit to Hogsmeade, or even prior to that, you’ll have noticed that approaching them and attempting to interact does nothing. The large eye staring into your soul might have given it away, but you can safely assume that these aren’t your usual chests.
How to Open Eye Chests in Hogwarts Legacy
To open Hogwarts Legacy’s eye chests, you’ll need to use stealth or, more precisely, the Disillusionment spell. You won’t learn it until you reach the Secrets of the Restricted Section main quest, so this is one good reason to press on with your lessons and help professor Fig.
Fairly soon into the quest, you’ll automatically learn the Disillusionment spell. Casting it instantly turns you invisible, hiding you from the prying eyeballs of prefects, ghosts, and eye chests. It’s a great tool that you can use to sneak through hostile areas without being found.
Simply cast the spell on yourself when you’re out of sight or far enough from the chest. Then, you can open eye chests by approaching and interacting with them, as you would any of the regular chests found throughout the game.
You’ll get a handful of galleons for your trouble and prompt the eyeball to close in the process. Whether or not that makes you a chest murderer is up for you to decide.
That is what you need to know about how to open eye chests in Hogwarts Legacy.
