A rep has told MTV that the PS3 SixAxis controller is being relegated to history, forever. They will be discontinuing the line and once gone they’ll be gone for good.
The latest Dual Shock controller is about to go on sale in the States but Europe will have to wait longer until we see the goods from Sony.
The original 2005 “Boomerang” design of the SixAxis was dropped after a backlash from the community and so it adopted the Dual Shock design. With the addition of motion sensors in the pad they had to remove the vibration pack which many PlayStation purists were none too happy about.
Phil Harrison, Sony’s president of worldwide studios, was quoted as saying ”Now, rumble I think was the last generation feature; it’s not the next-generation feature. I think motion sensitivity is.” Less than a year later and Dual Shock 3 begs to differ Mr ex President.
