The recent cancellation of, Tiberium, a first person shooter set in the Command & Conquer universe has given industry analysts plenty of grist for the mill. A recent Gamasutra article shows that no one really knows what it means to Electronic Arts or the industry as a whole.
The article quotes Mike Hickey, an analyst for Janco Partners, when he said that EA lacks ”management execution and/or product quality,” and added that the cancellation ”damages new management’s credibility.” The same article goes on to quote Michael Pachter, an analyst for Wedbush Morgan who gives a contrary opinion when he stated that the cancellation ”goes a long way toward preserving the quality of the overall lineup.”
