The first news from the Codemasters Connect 08 event in Birmingham has started to trickle in from our scouts that are attending the event. Turbine’s Lord of the Rings Online producer was there to give an official announcement about a new expansion pack that is in development for the MMORPG.
It’s entitled “The Mines of Moria” and will be the first official expansion to be released for Lord of The Rings online later this year. It promises to bring a vast amount of improvements to the game as well as adding addition regions.
Three new regions have revealed for the expansion, the first one is Moria (Obviously) and the second one is meant to be Lorien, but Turbine haven’t revealed what the third one will be yet. Two new classes will also be introduced, the Warden and the Runekeeper, as well as 10 new character levels bringing the game’s cap up to 60.
The Mines of Moria are promised to contain epic environments and large halls, with a great number of loot on offer. The Balrog will also challenge players to a fight, along with the Watcher. You’ll also come across some vast and stunning dwarven cities whilst traveling through Moria.
As for Lorien, this realm will allow users to receive gifts from Galadriel and legendary Items which will evolve as the player progresses through the game. The producers also mentioned that if you’re into big raids then Lorien would be a good place to be.
You’ll notice that a new race has also been added, the Lossoth, along with War Mammoths (Expect screenshots of these soon).
We’ll be covering news from the Connect 08 event in Birmingham all day, so stay tuned!
