In an interview with OXM, director Hiroshi Takai has endorsed the Xbox 360 over its PS3 counterpart because ”it’s been a lot easier to work with”.
He reveals it was the development teams first time working with both the Microsoft console and Epic’s Unreal engine, and adds it’s been a ”positive” experience all round.
”It’s been the team’s first time working with Xbox 360 and the Unreal Engine,” said the Square Enix developer Hiroshi Takai.
”In both cases the experience has been a positive one. In fact, as we’ve only just finished work on Last Remnant I don’t even know what my next project is going to be at Square Enix. However, I’m very much hoping it’ll be for Xbox 360 as it’s been a lot easier to work with than PlayStation 3.”
Square Enix is making strides to appeal to more western audiences, something Takai echoed in his interview. ”We didn’t try to appeal to one audience or the other, but tried to give everything we did a global appeal,” he said. ”From a visual standpoint there are some things you can get away with in Western games… characters can be less clean-cut.”
