Many people are familiar with the Final Fantasy series of games. With the first release in 1987 for the NES, it has developed a large following (in fact, it is the fourth best-selling game franchise of all time) and crossed genres. Final Fantasy XI: Wings of the Goddess is the fourth expansion pack to this the eleventh installment in the series. If you’re a fan of FFXI, and considering picking up this expansion, read our review to see if Emmanuel Brown thinks your money will be well spent.

A large portion of the final score at the top of this review then will depend on exactly how much of an FFXI fan you already are. For high-level players this expansion may well be worth a look, if only for the opportunity to try out a few new professions and enjoy the limited amount of new content on offer. Providing Square-Enix fixes up the new areas and introduces a lot more features in the next few months, Wings of the Goddess may well become worthwhile; however, as a new player, there really is little point in picking this up right now.
