Almost lost in the uproar over the DRM complaints surrounding Electronic Arts Spore, are complaints concerning the online accounts for Spore. Contrary to what is stated in the manual Spore only allows one online account to be created per install – so on a multiple use system you can only have one Spore screen name regardless of how many users share the system.
A post on the official EA Spore forum yesterday announced that they are working on changing the online accounts to be more like as is described in the manual. “We are going to add the ability to have multiple Spore Screen Names for any one Spore Online Account. Here’s how this will work: for each copy of Spore that you have purchased, you will be able to have one Spore Online Account, just as it is now. However, we will be adding the ability to have five Spore Screen Names for that account. When you launch Spore, you will be able to log in with any of those Screen Names”
The post states that because this is a significant change to the game that there is no timeframe for the release of this patch.
