Grand Theft Auto IV is going to be game of the year. In that spirit Rockstar Games has decided to let all those GTA fans/nuts prove their mettle by launching a stat tracking site for leaderboards and walls of fame.
Apparently the first 10 to complete the game 100% will receive an “ultra-rare” key to Liberty City.
Presumably other top achievers will get goodies too. Having your game data broadcast to the world is optional, you would sign up to the site and give them your Xbox360 Gamertag or PlayStation Network ID - then let the shame and bragging commence.
There are many of cool features, one being a Liberty City Police Department Blotter that will take felony related data like weapon usage etc and mark crime riddled spots on the map.
Music is a major player itself, when you’re driving around and like a song on the ingame radio you can “dial” the ZiT music number and you’ll receive an ingame text message telling you the details of the song. If you’ve also registered with the Social Club you’ll get an email too, it will tell you how to get a hold of the song through Amazon.
This is a crazy new height of interaction between the player, the console systems and internet services. You have to hand it to Rockstar Games; they know how to set the bar.
If the Social Club is something you’d love to join then signups begin April 15. It’s a fantastic idea and one I’ll be joining - I want my LC key!
